Melissa Fraser, BSc (Biomed Sci/Physiol), JD, GDipLegPrac, is admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland.

In addition to law, Melissa has studied biomedical science and trained in commerce. Before joining HBM Lawyers, she worked in primary industries, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in various aspects of agriculture, and in transport, mining and development.

Melissa joined HBM Lawyers as a graduate after having worked for 10 years in the agribusiness and construction sectors.

Since her admission in 2009, Melissa has drawn on her scientific and agricultural background, working on agricultural, livestock and bloodstock claims. She has represented Queensland, interstate and international insurance clients in plaintiff and defendant roles.

She has represented clients at conferences, mediations, hearings and trials for matters in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, the Federal Court, the industrial courts, the Industrial Relations Commission, the Anti-Discrimination Commission, the Fair Work Commission and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Melissa predominantly specialises in professional indemnity, public and product liability, agribusiness, and health law. She has assisted clients in large-scale recoveries arising from natural disasters and defended statutory prosecutions in the mining sector.
