Peta Collins, B Com, LLB, was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1999.

Before joining HBM in 2008, Peta had 10 years’ experience in personal injury litigation, acting for plaintiffs and defendant insurers in the fields of CTP, public liability, workers’ compensation, professional indemnity, medical negligence and criminal compensation.

During her legal career, Peta has been the department head of public liability claims at a plaintiff specialist personal injury firm. She has advised large self-insurers in statutory workers’ compensation, public liability and property damage claims. She has provided advice to major CTP and public liability insurers.

Now practising as a Special Counsel, Peta has developed expertise in building and construction risks, including advising on indemnity and contractual issues, and she acts for large construction companies in multiple-party litigation.

Peta has also developed expertise in hospitality risks.

She was treasurer for the Association for Women in Insurance (Qld) Inc from 2002 to 2005.
